Being elsewhere could be achieved in different ways. You could be travelling compagnon, if e.g. P. Nelles offered his car. Moreover, you could use the railway or your bike. (Having someone in the family working for the Reichsbahn like Franziska meant that you had reduced fares.) Loving the life in Cologne didn’t mean that other places weren’t attractive as well. Quite obvious, Bavaria was a place to be for Peter and Franziska.
